So. I'm looking for cute pictures to put up of Aedan (and/or Liam). I've got nothing. We've all been to sick or busy to even take pictures!! Let alone video.... lord knows I need video of this guy. He's getting cuter by the day, and he has more Hair than the 1960's musical. So, we need to: 1. Get Healthy 2. Take more pictures.
Hold on - I found a good shot:

Cute, eh? I need to get some better pictures of Just Aedan, but it's really tough to find the time, plus, the little bastard just isn't photogenic. I'll work on it.

Wow. Hard to believe that this kid is a year old. He's now a walking, talking, juggernaut of giggles. If his poor big brother gets in his, way, he gets knocked down. Good for you, Aedan! Liam needs someone to take him down a peg or two.
A couple more pictures of the 365 day old man here...

Quick update, for posterior... um... posterity.
Fatso-bo-batso has taken to walking! Not much, however... he just doesn't seem terribly inclined. If we encourage him, he walks as far as we encourage him to (well, up to 10, 15 steps or so). After we stop with the goading, however, he's right back to crawling or 'cruising'.
Verbally, though, he's kicking Liam's ass, still. He may as well rip out Liam's parietal lobe and beat him with it. His vocabulary is much more extended than Liam's was at that age, object recognition is over the top, and he's almost easier to understand than Liam is now. I think that Liam feels about communication the same way that Aedan feels about walking.
Either that, or he's retarded.

It seems that once again, all is well in Aedanland. His teeth still bug him, and he's not sleeping as well as he once was, but he's sleeping enough. Not enough for Mommy, but enough that we're not worried about him. It's enough that he's back to his old happy baby self. Every day he gets closer and closer to walking... if we could just get Liam to stop trying to ride him like a horsie, it'd probably be going a bit faster.

Verbally, he's widening the gap between himself and 9 month old Liam. He mimics sounds much better than Liam ever did, and says "mommy", "daddy", "oops", etc... on a regular basis. I'm sure that I'm forgetting some important words that he uses pretty much every day, but Mommy can correct me, if she ever gets the time to login and blog...
You can see from the pictures that he's not only happy, but that he's losing some weight, which is lending itself to him becoming more and more photogenic every day. It seems that Liam is really going to have a run for his money on all fronts: looks, coordination, and verbal skills.

It's been a rough day for young Master Aedan. We're not too sure what's causing him discomfort (we're guessing it's teeth), but lord, it must be bad. When I left to go take Liam over to Uncle Joe's for the Superbowl party, Aedan had slept all of 20 minutes the whole day. Normally by late afternoon he's already slept between 3 and 5 hours. Not a happy baby. Danielle stayed home to brave the crying and to try to get him to sleep... apparently it worked, since when I got home just before 9:00 he (and she) were both asleep.
Hopefully tomorrow will be better... the kid needs a break... between teething, and the stomach virus that ran through the house, an ear infection, the odd cold here and there... he needs a break. That being said... he's still doing AWEsome. He switched from rolling to get where he wanted to go to crawling a couple of weeks ago, and just 3 days after that he started pulling himself up on things (couch, baby gates, etc...) to stand upright, and shortly after that, he started "cruising". We haven't entered him in the NY marathon yet, but it's coming.
Verbally, he's still kicking Liam's ass (well, 8 month old Liam, anyway... Aedan's is (verbally) about where Liam was at 14 months or so), and he's picking sign language up pretty quickly too. He already signs 'milk', 'diaper change', and 'bottle'.
Looks like we have another smarty to be proud of :-D

So - Aedan has an ear infection. It took us a day or two to realize that it wasn't his teeth that were bothering him, and now we have to wait for a day or two until the meds kick in and get him some relief. So for the past two days, it's basically been nothing but non-stop crying. Even when holding him, and walking him around the house. Depressing and heart wrenching. I know Danielle has been going nuts. It's horrible to watch your child in pain and know that there's nothing that you can do about it except wait for the pain to subside - especially when no amount of bouncing, holding, or hugging can console him.
Hopefully this won't set him back any. Just two days ago, he really started crawling... not the "roll, roll, scoot, roll" of three days ago. This is full blown, goal oriented crawling. And his goal is generally Liam. He idolized his big brother, and follows him everywhere, wanting to be a part of whatever Liam is doing... and Liam loves it, playing peek-a-boo with Aedan, trying to help him stand up, beating on the floor, or the wall, or Daddy with him (although Aedan seems to have better rythym than Liam does). I think that Liam is going to get Aedan in Sooo much trouble.

So, guess what - ? I got a new phone. You can see there in the picture to the left what I've done with that piece of shit Treo. Palm can go take a running jump for that one. Hopefully the kl;m and ' keys are helping with Aedan's teething :-D

Went to the mall yesterday (Sunday) to expose the children to as many viruses as possible before the holidays. umm.... see Santa Claus. The fact that Liam (much less Aedan) has no clue what's going on, who Santa Claus is, that Christmas is right around the corner, or even what Christmas is was absolutely no deterrent to my lovely wife or the kids paternal grandmother.
So… we waited in line for what seemed like an hour. It seemed like an hour because it was, in fact, an hour. Actually, it wasn’t all that bad. The wait wasn’t quite as long as I thought that it would be, Liam had a blast going up and down the escalator – over, and over, and over again, and Aedan fell asleep and had a good 30 or 45 minutes nap.
In the end, we ended up with a few good shots of the kids on Santa’s lap – Out of guilt, we did end up paying 15.99 for a couple of wallet size pictures and a 3x5, even though I was right there with my dSLR, clicking away. I’m guessing that the malls don’t pay Santa anymore, and he’s getting paid by the company that does the photography. It’s still a racket, but god knows the man’s a Saint (no pun intended) for letting these brats climb all over him all day long.
Liam, as you can probably tell from the picture, had just about had enough, and Aedan, as chubby as ever, probably caused Santa sciatica to act up (if you look closely, you can see that Aedan had burst out of his jeans - top and bottom), but Santa was unflappable.

Aedan is pissed. Ok, not in this picture, he's not. But in general, he's pissed. Well, ok - 97.3% of the time he's about as happy as anyone could be, but that other 2.7% of the time, he's definately pissed.
He's getting frustrated with himself because that last peice of the puzzle just won't fall into place for him. He just can't quite crawl. He gets up on all fours, rocks back and forth, and even lunges forward, if only to do a face plant. But there's just one bit of coordination that seems to be eluding him, and it's starting to really grind his gears.
I fully expect that he'll forgo the crawling thing altogether, and straight to triathalons.

We have to get this on tape. Mister Aedan started whistling this morning (at 4:30 am). He had blown out of his diaper and started bitching, so I got up to bring him into bed with us (after locating diapers and wipes, and getting him all cleaned up, and in a new outfit). While I was changing him, he started whistling. No, not like whistling the theme song to Andy Griffith or anything, but definately whistling.
Further update - he's turning himself over, from front to back and back to front at will now (at will = all the damned time, and especially when I'm trying to change his diaper). He's not quite crawling yet, but that's just around the corner. He's at the point where he'll get up on all fours and rock back and forth for a bit, then get pissed off that he's not getting anywhere :-/. His current favorite sounds are - "mama" and "uh-oh".
And... he's still the happiest damned baby in the world. At 4:30 in the morning, cold, and with a wet outfit from blowing out of his diaper (Pamper's SUCK), he was smiling, laughing (and whistling). Little bastard - I'm not that happy after 3 cups of coffee at 10:00 in the morning.
